You did it! You diligently saved your money, and spent wisely, always paying off your credit card every month and never missing a payment on your car loan, so you’ve got excellent credit. Now the question is what to do with that excellent credit. Well, if you plan to continue spending responsibly, there are credit cards that cater specifically to people with above-average credit that come with special rewards for those who qualify! Here are our favorite cards for people who spend wisely:
- Citi Premier Card: With a low $95 annual fee, this card also offers 3x points on food (restaurants and grocery stores) as well as 3x points on travel (gas, flights and hotels). That likely covers the majority of your purchases. Plus, at the time of the writing of this article, they’re offering 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months of signing up (an $800 value)!
- Chase Sapphire Preferred: Similar to the Citi Premier, this card has a bonus when you spend $4,000 in your first 3 months of signing up. You can earn 60,000 bonus points (a $750 value when redeemed through Chases’ Ultimate Rewards program). This card also offers 5x points when you book travel through Ultimate Rewards, and 3x points on Dining, and 2x on travel not booked through Chase. The Sapphire Preferred also has a $95 fee, making it very comparable to the Citi Premier.
- Chase Freedom Unlimited: While this card doesn’t accrue ‘points’ like some others, it has excellent cash-back benefits. In fact, for the first year, you can earn up to 1.5% additional cash-back on the first $20,000 spent. Thats on top of the 4.5% you earn for drug-store purchases, and 3% on everything else, plus you can still use Chase’s Ultimate Rewards to redeem your cash-back! Not only that, this card also doesn’t have an annual fee!
- Wells Fargo Autograph: Like the Chase Freedom Unlimited, this card has no annual fee. It also has a 30,000 bonus point promotion when you spend just $1,500 in the first 3 months, so if you’re not super spendy to qualify for the $4,000 bonuses of the Citi Premier or Chase Sapphire Preferred, this is a great option. It also offers 3x points on things like restaurants, travel, gas and cell phone payments, which probably makes up the majority of your monthly expenses.
Those are our favorite, but which card are you using? Getting the right credit card can be tricky, so be sure to do your own research and be sure to pick the one that aligns best for your purchasing habits!
